Have I got a last minute centrepiece for your Easter table! Company coming in an hour, don't worry, all you need is a few items and some clippers to scavenge from the yard. Easter this year is later in April and happened to occur during pruning season. After trimming my boxwood shrubs, I decided these beautiful green branches were too good to place in an organics bin. So I decided to incorporate the stunning, leafy green branches into a natural centrepiece for my seasonal tablescape. You don't have to use just boxwood branches for your centrepiece, I recommend you use whatever is available in your yard or neighbourhood - any healthy branch with leafy greens will work.
Our Easter dinner this year is just family as we are under strict Covid restrictions, so I decided to keep the tablescape casual and fun. I had seen these green moss bunnies online earlier in the month and ordered them as I thought they would look great on the front porch. Once I decided to use the boxwood in the table centrepiece, I decided to stick with the outdoor, natural theme and bring the moss bunnies inside. I'm loving the look of this almost fully monochromatic arrangement. It's as if the bunnies are hiding in grass.
Everything else I included in the centrepiece I either already had, or foraged for outside. You can achieve the same look of this centrepiece with any seasonal bunnies and floral (easter egg) picks you might have. Below, I've included a suggested list of materials, however you don't have to stick to it, use what you have!
Moss Bunny Basket Centrepiece
Materials You Will Need
1 basket
1 piece of dry floral foam cut to fit inside the basket (a small ball of scrunched chicken wire or criss-crossed tape strips would work as well)
2 moss bunnies, 6.5"(link to the ones I used here) or any bunnies or chicks you have
4 egg floral picks (I used 2 picks with plain white eggs and 2 picks with pastel coloured eggs, all purchased at Michael's Craft Stores)
fresh boxwood branches, cut in varying lengths
2 pieces of ribbon for bunny bows* (optional)
Method
Place floral foam (or chicken wire ball) into the basket. Begin to push boxwood branches into the foam at a flat angle. Your goal here is to provide depth and filler, to hide the floral foam.
Add bunnies on top of the boxwood and insert Easter egg seasonal picks. As my centrepiece is seen from front and back, I added two picks to the front and two picks to the back.
Tie bows around the bunnies necks for a bit of extra flourish.
Leading up to Easter dinner, I used this Moss Bunny Easter Basket arrangement on our kitchen island and then moved it to the table for out dinner celebration. Afterwords, I moved it to the front porch for a bit of extra seasonal decor.
I hope you and yours have a wonderful and safe Easter and that this Moss Bunny Easter Basket Centrepiece has inspired you to create something beautiful, even if it is just for a small group (or just immediate family!) this year at our Easter tables. My quick and easy Easter tablescape is coming soon to the blog.
Take care everyone and Hoppy Easter,
Krista xo
