It might seem odd to have a whole post dedicated to a gin and tonic, but this drink is so adaptable. It is refreshing, complex in flavours and can be adjusted to each season with a few quick additions.
In meeting with my Father's Day Mediterranean menu, I have added in lemon and rosemary herb flavours to compliment the menu's appetizers and main dishes.
One of the keys to a great gin and tonic is quality ingredients, seeing as there's traditionally only two. I tend to stick with a good London dry gin and prefer Fever Tree Tonic in my gin and tonics.
In this Mediterranean G&T riff, I added the lemon flavour with limoncello. I happened to have some leftover homemade limoncello (that was an experience!) in the freezer. If you don't have limoncello in your freezer, you can use fresh lemon juice, about 1/2 oz instead.
Whether you go regular or Mediterranean, you've got to love a good gin and tonic!
Mediterranean Gin & Tonic
Ingredients
2 oz gin
1 oz limoncello
4 oz tonic
garnish with lemon wheel, rosemary and black peppercorns
Method
Rub rosemary around rim of deep coupe glass. This will release the herb's oils. Add gin, limoncello and tonic. Garnish with rosemary, lemon wheel and peppercorns.
Enjoy!
Cheers,
Krista
